With a simple product like this you just expect it to work without a hitch and it did just that.
Works as advertised, but have to unplug and plug back in for mbp to recognize it. The only issue I have is that it damaged my Samsung bar flash drive and carved 2 deep grooves in the flash drive. Now the flash drive won't fit snug in a normal usb slot.
Tried to use this with a Samsung S8. It worked until I got a case. Now I can not insert it totally anymore and the phone does no longer recognize the plugged in device.
Met my expectations. I have a 2016 MacBook Pro. Apple did away with the USB 3.0 ports and uses USB-C now. You can not use two of these adapters side by side but you can use one of these and the charging cable next to each other.
I originally purchased this USB-C to USB 30 adapter to use with my new LG V20 phone and be able to access my SanDisk Ultra Fit 128GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive (SDCZ43-128G-GAM46) [Newest Version]. You have to get this adapter to truly appreciate the small size of it. Tiny for sure! Out of the package, it "feels" well made in the hand. And, it worked perfectly with my SanDisk Ultra Fit. The first thing that I noticed is the indicator light and could find no way to disable that. And therein, I believe, lies the problem for me. Shortly after plugging it in and running a quick couple of tests to ensure that it was fully functional, I noticed that the battery indicator on my phone had dropped several percentage points. I began to fear that the indicator light on the device may be the cause of this and I do believe that it is. I then fully charged my phone and then attached the USB-C to USB 3.0 OTG Adapter, MILAPEAK Aluminum 9 Inch USB-C Male to USB 3.0 Female Cable for USB Type C Devices, Including for Macbook, Chromebook Pixel, Nexus 5X and More(Silver) with the SanDisk Ultra Fit plugged in. Just leaving the phone sitting this way for several hours showed no out of the ordinary battery usage. Then, I fully charged my phone again (thank goodness for rapid charging on the V20!) and plugged in the nonda with the SanDisk Ultra Fit plugged in. At this point, I left it plugged in for about 6 hours or so. I did not use the phone at all in any way. At the end of that time, the battery drained to about 18%. Way more than what it should have been normally. To be absolutely clear, I don't "blame" nonda in any way. It is primarily promoted as a device for MacBooks from what I can see. The LED makes sense for such a device. For a cell phone like the LG V20, it may not be the best device and I am now on the look for a different adapter. However, one of the reasons I am looking or a device like this is for viewing media on it when I travel. I think that with the extended battery that I am getting for travel, this will work fine. This is a small device that appears, by all indications, to be extremely well made. And, in the small round of testing that I have done seems to work flawlessly. Users of mobile devices where battery usage is going to be an issue might want to consider the indicator light as they make their purchase decision. I am also continuing to research any settings on my phone that can help with this as well. But, at the end of the day, this is a product that I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone in the right circumstances.
Compact and high quality, I really like it. It's so small that I don't detach it from my hard drive. I love it
So far so good on this adapter. Only gripe is the width, which prevents the use of other larger USB-c inputs on the MacBook Pro (2016)
Good quality, SMALL and not bulky, and unlike other USB C ports, it is well attached to the laptop and doesn't move off or bend. It almost has an identical color to the space grey MacBook. If the tiny light irritates you, simply flip it to the other side.
Cool. Fits perfectly to my new Macbook Pro.
Have been using it for a few months and it is still working! I have a multi usb 3.0 adapter for my MacBook toucher and I have to say that this is better than the multi adapters out in the market in my opinion.
Good, easy way to add USB 3 capabilities to 13" MacBook Pro.
essential piece of equipment.
This is my favorite USB-C/A adapter. I love the compact design and the indicator light. Good job, Nonda!
When connected, this appears to disconnect my WiFi on a late 2016 MacBook Pro.
I bought a couple of these and use one as a Yubikey Nano holder since we use those at work. Tip: Add a MagCozy (White), those rubber attachments meant for MagSafe 2 adapters, to this to attach to a keychain or other holder so its easily accessible. As other reviewers have noted, it's small but not as tiny as you would expect. On a 2016 MacBook Pro, it can be a tight fit if there is already something plugged in to the next port.
Originally I passed over this nifty adapter because I went with some that had flat edges - hoping to be able to plug two in at once into my MacBook Pro. Unfortunately, I learned the ports are just too close. I ordered this unit within a week and have been very glad I did. It's a really solid feeling dongle and I plan to keep it with me as my daily use adapter.
It's ok to use when you have your laptop on a flat surface. If it on a bed or semi-flat surface it can push on the nonda. This is why oem converter has a pigtail and I can see why now.
