Unless you're standing next to your router I would not advise. VERY poor speeds VERY.
Not happy as I am not getting desired speed as I was getting thru RJ45 cable. Would not recommend
These kind of adapters have a niche; for regular WiFi access, there's smaller units that do the job. But with a good high gain vertical or better yet, a flat panel, they are fantastic! I have mine with a 10 meter USB cable. Sure, you lose some speed but the difference in getting waves and not makes the price worth paying.
I bought the TP-Link Archer T9UH on Amazon.ca and tested it, I got a maximum speed of 181 Mbits/sec.My setup:- Netgear Orbi wifi mesh system RBK50, 5Ghz, AC, near computer, WPA-2 AES- Archer T9UH connected to the pc (USB 3.0 port) and and showing a speed of 867Mbps- Other computer connected to the GB port of the routerI did a iperf3 test to look at the real adapter speed to transfer files from my computer with the T9UH adapter to a pc connected to the GB port of the router. The results were really low. I wasn't able to get a maximum of 181 Mbits/sec ! I confirmed that by running several other tests (i.e. a USB to ethernet adapter) so it is not my computer's fault. This wifi adapter has poor performance compared to what is advertised.I've contacted TP-Link support and I will update this review if they provide me with a solution or fix.
I reinstalled windows on my son's Dell pc and for some reason the wireless got wiped out and it wouldn't work anymore! Bought this little gadget and had it back on wifi in a couple of minutes. This works perfect!
Complete junk. Will not work with mac 10.12.5. Vendor is not updating drivers for this wifi usb adapter. Do not get this one if you are planning on upgrading going forward. I would recommend getting the StarTech.com USB 2.0 300 Mbps Mini Wireless-N Network Adapter (USB300WN2X2C)
For the ones undecided I just purchased this , it was V4, windows 10 recognized it automatically no drivers needed, and it increased my all in one wifi speed from 2-3MBs to 18MBs , best thing it has a long usb cable that you could move the unit around for best reception.
works great and I haven;t notice any speed decrease
This adapter works very well with Windows 7/8/10 and has great range. Keep in mind - the Archer T2UH (AC600) model does NOT work very well with any Linux-based operating systems. While driver installation is certainly possible (especially older version), I recommend avoiding the Archer T2UH (AC600) model if attempting to use with a Linux-based operating system.Given I'm using this primarily on a Linux system - I will be replacing it with the NT150 model to check for compatibility.
I purchased this for use in with Kali linux, however apparently TP link has completely changed chipsets since its inital release. The new V2 chipset is not compatible with Kali and will not work as expected or advertised. Buyer Beware
I used this for less than a year and got rid of it after it would continually and frequently drop my Internet, only being temporarily fixed by taking it out and plugging it back in, disconnecting me from online games and videos.
There is the issue of rate that other reviewers mentioned, nowhere near the claimed 150Mbps. There is also another, even more serious, problem that I encountered. After I installed the TL-WN725N, my PC did not recognize any USB Flash Drive that I plugged into any of the USB ports, unless I disabled the Intel 82801FB/FBM USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 265C in the Device Manager. In other words, it removed the USB 2.0 capability on my PC and reverted it to USB 1.1 after I disabled the Enhanced Host Controller. My solution: I removed the TL-WN725N from my PC and replaced it with an old LinkSys AE1200, which works perfectly, both at high rates and it doesn't affect the USB 2.0 capability.
It's a small USB wifi adapter which installed simply - what more could you want? Although it didn't specify compatibility on the box, I installed it on a windows 7 machine without any problems using the drivers included on the disk.Submitted as part of a free sample program.
This adapter installed easily on Windows 7 using the included driver disk. It comes with an extension/base that allows you to position as needed. It wasn't needed for my setup, but I used it anyways because it looked cooler.Submitted as part of a free sample program.
Where do I start... I have paid almost $500 trying to repair my custom computer because of this adapter. This is honestly a pretty sad story, my daughter built me this budget build computer and we skimped on the network adapter. We didn't think anything of it, we figured it would just be slow and then when we could afford it we would buy a better one. BIG mistake! This little device crashed my computer almost immediately after booting, then everytime we streamed video or played a steam game. We couldn't figure out what was wrong we tried everything. We replaced the WHOLE motherboard and CPU ($300), bought a separate GPU ($49) took it to get repaired ($100), had to buy another copy windows for the new equipment, it was a massive HEADACHE! We just couldn't figure out what was wrong. I never would have thought that it was is adapter. Now we didn't read the compatibility section of the products description and that is our fault but, this page should definitely say SOMEWHERE clearly that it is not compatible with Windows 10 it should be transparent since that is the most current Windows OS, there should be a warning somewhere. I hope if anyone else is having this problem they can see this and know this thing can cause BSOD errors for your system!
I haven't tested this during maximum transfer rates if that would make a difference but this thing gets HOT as Hell while just streaming from the internet.I've used an infrared thermometer to measure it multiple times during use and it averages about 135F/56C browsing the web. It's frequently above 165F while persistently streaming but I've seen it peak during an online game session at 185F/85C on the surface of the plastic case! No way can this be healthy for the tech inside!
I used to get 25 mbps, on my 2.4 wireless N built in, now I get 90 MBps like my Samsung S8.Note I pay for 90 mbps, so finally my notebook get fast internet.Try uk tplink, has all the drivers and utilities.
Very good. Lives up to the 'high-gain' claim.
I installed this unit on my sons PC in his bedroom which is on the third floor of our home and fairly long distance form our router. He is an avid PC gamer and the experience has been good. Latency is good on all of his games and the connection is fast and stable. Plug in play and very easy to configure. Excellent option for any PC that doesn't have a built in wireless adapter. We couldn't be more satisfied with the product.
