Cranking it up puts a lot of strain on the cables. Should have sent it back, and cranking it to try to get it to tilt REALLY strains the mechanism. One gust of wind blew it over with the flimsy, inadequate base Amazon sells. A rib popped out and was impossible to put back. Bent the rib to try to put it back and it snapped like a twig. Metal ribs are very weak. Don't waste your money on ANY of these pieces of junk. Look for one with wood ribs and a simple rope and pulley mechanism. Amazon probably sells these.
Wonderful! Its perfect. Well built, good looking, easy to put together. I just got it so i cant say anything about its longevity but installing it snd using it in my back yard i am very happy with it. Considering the price it js quite a deal.
Just moved & needed something large for our new deck area. We thought about an awning or screen house type of cover, but felt they might make too large of a shaded area - we did want some sun. This 9ft is the perfect size. Shades table & some sitting area. I know some people complained about the durability/stability, but ANY umbrella should be closed when not in use to protect it from sun & wind damage.
