My grandsons love their echo dot kids and I love that their moms don’t have to worry about what they learn while interacting with the device.
My daughter loves this. Her favourite is the Disney Sories app
We like having the dot but there are a few things that need improvement. Some of the games have bugs and dont play correctly and feel as we have to shout at this one.
guess I will wait till all the bugs are ironed out
until Amazon creates a more comprehensive filtering system, or allows parents DIRECT CONTROL over content, I do not recommend this product. Yes, there is an "explicit filter" and an age recommendation, but that does next to nothing when children can request (or be misheard requesting) songs from all of Amazon Music. My son wants to hear songs from Minecraft. Evidently there is also a band that uses that name who also has a "hit" techno song where they just repeat "DON'T STOP! POP THAT PUSSY DON'T STOP!" -- so yeah... With the omnipotent power that Amazon possesses, there is NO REASON, that I should not have a button in my Alexa app, where I view recent activity, that allows me to block content. Like a thumbs down on Pandora- one click, gone forever. I see this as a serious design flaw and am super disappointed, as are my kids, that they will not be free to use these devices like we had planned.
I really can't rate it because I have not set it up yet. But I do like that it is a pretty bright green color and small and not very big for my granddaughter to sit it anywhere. It was delivered as it was predicted on the order. May rate it later after I have had some time to "play" with it.
We purchased the item for my grandsons birthday and it was shipped directly to him. As i understand it's the best thing that has happened to him since "sliced bread'. He did however tell me that he is enjoying it very much. Thanks Amazon Echo for making one for our children.
I enabled freetime on the regular echo which I understand is equal to buying a kids edition (I have freetime unlimited already). The problem is that it restricts what you can do way too much. I was expecting to be able to choose the skills I want my kids to use but I can't enable anything they like. The skills are blocked by amazon and I can't get a straight answer from support as to why that is the case. I was told it's the dynamic content (It is not as some of the skills that work have dynamic content). It took 30 mins and 4 amazon help desk people to figure that out when I started a chat to get help. I called a few days later to again ask what type of skills are compatible with freetime and the rep told me they did not know. I asked for a list of books included in freetime unlimited and was told to search for "books freetime unlimited" on the website which does not work. Be ready to be frustrated if you buy this product.
My friend purchased on and it doesn’t work and this item just came out lol really
I do NOT have a kids edition and I am wondering why I need to. Why can't you ask Alexa to just play/do whatever you need with a key word? I know the obvious answer which is $$$ because Amazon just doesn't have enough yet. It is an okay tool and we got one for each of our 5 kids and some other folks for Christmas not knowing that it has some real limitations when it comes to families with kids. Stories were a little on the scary side for bedtime telling or too old for other kids.
