This tiny device is about the size of a small face cream jar yet packs a punch in the sound department. Sure this won't replace your living room stereo system but its perfect for personal space usage or travel. I have the larger LectroFan as well and while this is not as loud as the original, it also weigh less than half and uses less juice. To switch to Bluetooth, you hold down the power button and the LED starts blinking blue. You get 16 hrs of battery use on the noise machine and 6 hours on the Bluetooth connection.
Wow! The micro ‘LectroFan combines the best of sound machine and Bluetooth-enabled speaker technology. It’s a powerful pairing, giving this 1.5” high and just over half dollar-sized unit (see pic) low-impact portability with high-impact versatility, utility and sound. The disc-shaped top can rotate from a flat position (with the sound projecting up) to a fully extended vertical position (with the sound projecting out). For such a small product, the sound quality and range is impressive. Place your hand over the speaker surface and you can feel the sound waves pulsating out. The sound at higher volume levels is strong enough to vibrate on hard surfaces, so if you are sensitive to that, place a soft cloth or pad under the machine. It’s a delicious contradiction that a machine designed to mask sound can also be used as a speaker to produce sound. Simple push-button access pairs with your mobile device and turns this product into a surround-sound speaker. It’s easy to setup and toggle between the two options using just three buttons for all functionality including power and pairing. For the sound machine, we preferred the default fan setting sound (hold Power button for 15 seconds) and the ocean sound.Check out the video for the volume control featuring the faintest fan setting. Other sound settings scale louder as does any music or other sound you stream through the speaker. The Micro ‘LectroFan is a fascinating design and an an outstanding tech product.
This is a kind of tough product to review because while it does one thing very well (Bluetooth speaker), as a noise machine I find it pretty annoying. At the moment I'm using it just as a speaker (and it's cranking Van Morrison pretty nicely), but that's pretty much all that I will use this for.I gather that for some people sleeping in absolute silence (or near some annoying noise source like traffic) can be tough, and so I completely understand the concept of a white noise machine. However, I find the noises on this machine make me want to toss it across the room, lol. I guess white noise is a personal preference, so I can't really fault the makers that much, but who on Earth would want to sleep with a fan noise going? Is that relaxing? I tried it and kept want to get up and unplug the fan. The "white noise" sounds are far more annoying to me than any noise that might be keeping me awake. And while there is supposed to be an "ocean" noise in there, I didn't really recognize it. By comparison, I have a Ellia Balance Ultrasonic Essential Oil Diffuser, Blue, Ceramic & Wood, ARM-730BL oil diffuser that has a beautiful ocean sound in it. I live near the beach and trust me, the sound of the Ellia is very natural sounding--like sleeping with my window open.OK, so I don't personally like the sounds, but you might like them, so I won't really trash them for that. What's annoying to one is music to another. As a bluetooth speaker, however, this is a pretty decent little device. I think bluetooth/wireless speakers are a blessing! I can take this speaker with me to the bathroom, kitchen, etc. and the sound quality is very good. I have *not* been able to adjust volume level with the volume controls in the bluetooth mode, however, and I have to adjust volume at the computer/phone. I'm not sure why this is and I'll play with it more. Anyway, once I have a nice level set (on my Mac) and fire up the bluetooth, the sound is very nice for such a tiny speaker (the whole unit is about the size of a small peach). Pairing the unit with bluetooth was simple: turn on the bluetooth on your computer/phone, then press and hold the power button the the LetroFan until you hear the bluetooth chime, then just ask your device to find the speaker and pair it. Easy.By the way, I can adjust the volume of the white noise easily at the speaker, it's only in bluetooth mode that I have to revert to controlling it at the source. So, if you like fan noises or white noise, you might like the sound machine aspect of this, but for me the real value is using it as a speaker and it does that job very well.
My wife and I are longtime white noise machine users so I had to pick this up when I saw it. First of all, it's as small as the picture shows. I am not sure why some people are surprised about this. It works perfectly fine as a sound machine and is easy to use. The machine has 10 different sounds so it should be easy to find one that you like. The USB cord is fairly short (3ft?) so you may want to invest in a longer one along with a wall adapter to leave it plugged in. I have not had it long enough to testify on the battery life. The unit itself has a nice solid feel and the bottom has a slight rubber feel which is a nice touch. The speaker also swivels from a side facing position to straight up if you want to try and direct the sound.I was easily able to connect this to my iPhone 6 via Bluetooth in under 5 seconds. I didn't find the sound to be the best when playing music but I wasn't expecting much. The neat thing about using this with Pandora is that you can pause and skip songs through the buttons on the unit itself. The three buttons are multiple use, but easy to use and are detailed in the instruction pamphlet that comes with the unit.If you are in need of a sound machine, especially one that travels easily I would check this out. It is small enough to fit inside your purse or Toiletry bag.
If I can describe this small LectroFan sound machine in one word, it would be "AWESOME!".It's one thing for the LectroFan Micro Sound Machine to be a portable Bluetooth speaker, which is common these days. But where the major selling point of the LectroFan is the fact that aside from being a Bluetooth Speaker, it's also a sound machine for those who need sounds while sleeping.According to LectroSound:The micro has 10 unique non looping sounds including five different fan sounds, four white noises, and an ocean soundstory. The sounds can be personalized with the ability to precisely select the volume from a whisper to significantly louder than a mechanical fan. The rechargeable battery lasts up to 16 hours while playing its built-in sounds and 6 hours while streaming audio via Bluetooth. This is important for me because I travel a lot. Typically in every hotel I visit, I need to bump up the A/C in order to drown out sounds. Even at home, I have to have my Vornado fan on when I sleep.I can't sleep if I start out hearing my dog panting, the ice machine of the fridge going on, crickets or sirens or airplanes flying above, I need something that gives me a fan sound and also when I was in college, I would purchase the sound of the beach on tape that would play in the background to help me get to sleep. Anything to distract me from noises that keep me awake. But the LectroFan is something that worked perfectly. I can't describe of how happy I was to see the various sounds and the volume of how high I can go, let alone the quality of the sounds coming from this small device. I was very impressed! It's fairly easy to use, button for power, button for volume and button to cycle through sounds. And the fact that it's small and I can take it with me in my carryon and I have already used it with a backup battery plugged in to recharge it and play it while I sleep, it's what I needed. No more having to wear headphones, no more needing an audio player as this device is the sound machine that I desperately need. It's important to note that the accompanying USB cable is short, but if you own an Android micro USB phone cord or have a longer Micro USB or a USB extension cord, you can use that with this device. Also, for those who work in an environment where you need to use a sound machine to drown out sounds in order to keep privacy with your clients, this device is perfect and its portable, so no more of those old school sound machines that you had to plug in to your extension cord. It's important to note that LectroFan does offer their original sound machine without Bluetooth capabilities but offers more sounds and it's about $15 more.Overall, for those needing a sound machine with sounds that really do work as a sleep aid, I highly recommend the LectroFan Micro Sound Machine!
Thi is a very nice idea and product in my opinion. like some sort of sound, and the promise of waves just got me right away. It is small enough to keep in your purse or suitcase. I also used it for hands a little speaker on the go. I realize that this is a want, and if you see a need or have a want for it I believe it is not going to disappoint except of course that it will need to be charged on a daily basis when in use. I love all the sounds it plays, and it is easy to use. I really didn't get it to be a speaker for my phone, as I have nice bluetooth earphones. I have a sleep apnea problem and I rarely get enough sleep. One of my problems with a meditation audio and such is that 1. my earphones come off. 2. I stay awake through any stimulating talking or music. This makes a very subtle white nose sound that is easy on the ears, and my husband can sleep at the same time. I have a similar machine on my headboard as my husband reminded me, but it isn't rechargeable, and it isn't a nice tidy little package such as this. I think the sound quality is fine. It isn't perfect, but it makes a nice gift, and it is nice enough to get five stars in my view.
Wow! This is much nicer than we expected. It's rechargeable which I thought it just took batteries. It also has lots of sounds for being so small. The one thing I'm really excited about is you can use it as a speaker for you're phone. It's bluetooth and you can make calls through it and it has a speaker for you talk too. We received this in exchange for a review but I think we will purchase another one for hubby to use and take with him. This is great for the kids since they use sound machines at night. I love the Lectrofan brand. We have 2 full size sound machines and love them so I was excited to see that this was a product we could review. This company never fails to amaze me. :-)
OMG! This little thing is ah-MAY-zing! I got it for Christmas and thought "oh cute, another tinny little speaker I'll never use", but then I charged it and tried it out this morning. WOW! The sound from this unassuming little thing is fantastic. It produces surprising volume and great sound quality, and it takes up no space at all. Win win win!As for the white noise deal, I'm not a sleep-with-a-fan-on person. In fact, I hate the sound of a fan, but this ocean sound deal it's got going is the sh*t! I have friends who keep a fan on to sleep, and I'm sure this beats the hell out of blowing dust around all night, every night. I've got the ocean going behind me as I write this, and it's really soothing. All in all a wonderful product. Good job!
It is quite small which will be an advantage if you want it on the nightstand or desk - 2 inches across and almost 3 inches tall. I charged the battery when I first got it. It makes all the sounds it is supposed to make. I found a few quite irritating rather than calming. One sounds like bad TV static. As far as white noise is concerned I think it does a good job. I can see myself turning it on at night, hoping it would mask party sounds for ex. As a Bluetooth speaker it leaves something to be desired. My daughter paired it w her phone for me. I thought the sound was tinny. We listened to the music thru her phone and then thru the Lectra fan. No big difference really. The Lectra fan did not sound better than the phone. While the phone was paired w the Lectra fan making music, my daughter said she could play a game on her phone or do facebook, but not make calls. So I don't see the big deal about it being a Bluetooth speaker. the music sounds just as good (or mediocre) on the phone as it did thru the Lectrofan. The tilting speaker is cool, but again i'm not sure how much of an advantage it is. It is handy for storage - to be able to rotate the speaker down.
