I would say maybe a baby or young toddler would like it more than my 6 yr old he's into subs and ships so thought he would like it in the tub but it doesn't do anything and he calls it BORING. Also another issue is the top is supposed to open and close but I have to do it for him and even I find it difficult to do.
High quality, well made toy. Love that it detaches at the top for easy cleaning. Great pool, beach and bath toy!
When filled with water and is lifted, the handle/top pops open so my kids can't use it to scoop and pour.
Green Toys are all made from recycled plastic and are eco-friendly, which is always a good thing! You do pay a premium for this, as the prices are a little higher than your typical plastic toy but they are all really nicely made and well thought out. This bath toy is quite a simple and basic submarine toy that's ideal for bath time or water play outdoors or indoors.Made of hard plastic, this submarine can be used to pour water or simply used as a boat/submarine. I toned down yellow and blue, the color scheme it isn't garish but subtle. The handle is big enough for an adult while being small enough for children's hands and the whole thing is about 12" long. As a parent, I love the fact that the lid opens for easy cleaning and drying so the risk of a moldy bath toy at all! You can actually put the elements in the dishwasher if you want to get a deep clean. Oh, and it's been dropped over the side of the bath accidentally too, not a mark on it as it's so sturdy! The submarine has a propeller at the back, but otherwise, it's a simple toy which just requires imagination. It's suitable from age 6 months+ (Which I, personally, think is too early, so it might be heavy for such an age) and will still appeal to toddlers and pre-schoolers too as long as they're interested in water play, so although simple it will definitely get plenty of use. My daughter is 18-month-old and she loves it. The submarine can float but it is obviously a submarine and so is great for scooping under the water and my daughter loves the pour point at the front.Overall, an excellent product and I'm already looking to buy other Green Toys products as a result.
Love it! More importantly, my son does. Just when you begin to think that all plastic toys are flimsy junk, Green Toys comes along and shows you wrong. From the moment we took it out of the Amazon box, everything about this toy screamed "quality." Even the packaging was memorable. Recycled cardboard, not a stitch of film or plastic or twist ties, printed with soy ink and folded like origami around the submarine. The submarine itself is sturdy and well made. We have mostly nontoxic wooden toys in our house, as I prefer the look and feel and quality of them over plastic. However, this sub fits right in. It seems like a "wooden" version of your average plastic bath toy, if that makes any sense. The muted colors, the thick, indestructible construction, and beautiful design all are very pleasing to the eye and the hand.My babies love it. We use it to pour water when we rinse our 2 year old's head. He hates hair time no matter what, but it's not as bad when it's coming from a submarine. :)All in all, we are huge Green Toy fans now. This was our first, but there will definitely be more in the future. You won't be disappointed.
It was a gift for a 2yr old boy and he loved it!
Another great product from the Green Toy company!
This was the first green toy that my son received, and he loves to play with it in the bathtub. We use it to pour water on him to get those remaining suds off. We liked it so much that we bought another one as a gift for our nephew.
This is a phenominally well built toy. My 2.5 year old son loves this thing. Constant use for three months now and it is none the worse for wear still looks new. And he takes this thing in the bath and everywhere. Top pops off to put toys inside. When it pops off its hinge, always easy to put back together. Drains easily. Heavy plastic. The window no loner has holes like in product picture. It's like a shade has been 3/4 of way drawn down. I can't see how a kid could get his fingers stuck in. Must be the design change people are talking about after earlier reports of fingers getting stuck. Got mine October 2016. Highly impressed with this manufacturer and the quality of construction.
This is a great little toy. I've found that little ones get more enjoyment out of simple little toys for the bath than more elaborate, highly advertised toys.
This is the rating my 4 year old son gave this. He likes that you can put things in it. The propeller actually moves, he likes that. The submarine doesn't really go down in the water but actually it floats instead of sinking. He doesn't like that it is difficult to get all the water out of it after bathtime and would be difficult to clean. Mom likes that it is USA made and made from recycled materials.
submarine also goes with my grandson to the tub
My kiddos LOVE LOVE LOVE this fun Green Toys Submarine...... BUT it is IMPOSSIBLE to CLEAN!!!!!! WHY brag that it is DISHWASHER SAFE if all that is going to be able to get clean in the dishwasher is the OUTSIDE of the submarine?! Yes, the hatch opens, BUT NOT ENOUGH to allow for a THOROUGH scrubbing on all surfaces inside the submarine body.VERY VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED in Green Toys bath toys!!!!!Will NOT buy again!!!
You can't go wrong with Green Toys! Great USA made brand from all recycled materials. They're sturdy and hold up to the rough play of little hands. My daughter loves this submarine and has lot of fun with it.
I absolutely love all the green toys. They are a great quality product and always made well. I love how they are made from recycled plastic too. I got this for my son when he was about a year old. He is now a two year old still uses this in the bath. It's makes a great bath toy, as he likes to fill it with water and dump it out. Also useful for washing his hair. I'm very happy with the submarine and it will continue to get used for bath time.
I've gotten way more use out of this than I expected. We love it. The (now) toddler battles me with other the green toys to see which one will last the longest in the tub. I choose this sub everytime because it wins! The tight closing top and mostly covered hull keeps water out when battling or cruising. On another note, I just read the reviews earlier regarding the sub holes and getting fingers caught. It's 07/2016 now, and I think we've had the sub for a couple years. I'm not positive which version I have; the pre or post hole revision. The holes that ours came with seem to be about the size of the fingers and we have yet to have had any issues regarding finger sticking. I kind of like the hospital nearby as well as butter in the event we can just slick and slide it around, so really, it's a win-win, regardless of finger sticking or not! Buy this one, quick! It's not SUB-par!
Excellent product for 5 yrs old
Awesome bath toy for my nephew
Great bath toy. My son has played with it since 14 months and now he is two. He likes to have me open it and look inside. We can put little Duplo figures inside (his giraffe went for a ride today). I do need to clean it out now as it appears to have a film inside. I do use it to pour water on him during the bath.
